“Bayreuth 2013 – There’s Wagner inside it” – With this slogan the internationally known city Bayreuth commemorates the great composer Richard Wagner with a multifaceted program. On 22 May 2013 was the 200th anniversary of Wagner’s birthday, the composer who also founded the Bayreuth Festivals. It is a welcome occasion to celebrate this jubilee at his most important work place.

In preparation of the anniversary, since the beginning of May, various events have already been organized in the honor of this legendary composer. Until November young and known artists from all over the world offer the Wagner interested audience the possibility to engage in selected projects which represent the many facets and aspects of Richard Wagner and his work.

Apart from the 200th anniversary the Bayreuth Festival 2013 is the highlight of the anniversary year. On 25 July 2013, the 102nd edition of the Festival will be inaugurated with Richard Wagner’s opera “The Fyling Dutchman”, under the musical direction of Christian Thielemann, the world known Wagner conductor. In the center of the upcoming Festival is also the new production of the opera tetralogy “Ring of the Nibelung”.
The performance of “Tannhäuser” on 28 August will round up the program.
