From 12 to 22 September 2013 in Frankfurt/Main
From A(lpha Romeo) to Z – at the 65th International Motor Show 2013 the world of passenger cars will drive up to the fairgrounds of Frankfurt to present the future of the global automobile industry to an audience of one million expected visitors. Innovations such as electro mobility and connected driving will be in the center of attention of the Motor Show to astonish a number of spectators.
Three months before the opening of the fairgrounds the newest passenger car models by BMW, Mercedes, Porsche & Co. are already announced like celebrities. Instead of “What will you wear?” the most pressing question is “Which development mule will be the main attraction?”.
Mercedes will fight for the pole position with its new S-Class, starring the two-doors-luxury Coupé which will not be for sale before 2014.
But the competition does not sleep: BMW, the great rival from Munich, celebrates its world premiere of the new SUV model X5 and the series production version of the electric cars i3 and the i8 in the city at the river Main.
VW will have the audience take a peek at the successor of the luxury segment car Phaeton. And it is going to get really sporty in the compact cars segment: With the VW Golf R, Volkswagen enters the market with the fastest Golf version ever and offers a sport version of its electric car VW up!
Last but not least, Porsche will present the plug-in-hybrid-racer 918 Spyder, its hood hiding the power of not less than 795 PS. Also, Porsche will introduce the new mid-sized SUV Macan. By the way: For the 50th birthday of the 911 series, the Swabian car producer will celebrate its anniversary with a special edition at the IAA 2013. We are looking forward to this birthday present!
Whoever will win the race for the audience’s No. 1 – it sounds a lot like it is going to be a “home run” for the German producers at the most important international meeting point of the global car industry; and like a lot of fun for the audience at this perfectly staged and impressive show of cars of the future. The chancellor of Germany; Angela Merkel; will open this exhibition highlight.
The birth of the Motor Show lies back over 115 years. At the Hotel Bristol Berlin in 1887, eight cars were first presented to the public. The Motor Show developed fast into a regular exhibition and had to be divided into two shows for passenger cars and utility vehicles as from 1991 because of the large number of visitors. Now, in odd-numbered years the IAA for passenger cars takes place in Frankfurt whereas utility vehicles are presented in Hannover in even-numbered years.
